"Great occasions do not make heroes or cowards; they only unveil them to the eyes of men. Silently and imperceptibly, as we wake or sleep, we grow strong or weak; and at last some crisis shows us what we’ve become."

“I believe ‘becoming’ is more important than any single snapshot of a person’s life; it’s a process. My goal is to help you know where you are, where you want to be, and help you make a plan to get there. What we do in sessions depends on your circumstances, insights, goals, values, and motivation. Success requires capability and willingness; counseling can help with both.
If a person has a strong spiritual life, I expect those values to enter the counseling process.
Sometimes looking back at a person’s life is required to get 'unstuck'. Other times, focusing on and practicing what success looks like right now is more helpful. In addictions, support groups are often more effective than professional help.
I have enough clients waiting to see me that I don’t need to have counseling go on and on without defined goals. I expect the client to work harder at their success than I do. I often offer homework to give the client ownership in their process and to minimize the amount of sessions a client needs; the more they do on their own, the more we can cover in sessions.
Many clients report that I am a fairly forward and bold with my approach while at the same time they report feeling safe, accepted and that I genuinely care about their welfare. I sincerely hope that I can help you take your life to a better next step, and I consider it a sobering privilege to be a part of your process.”
